2010 will be all about workin' with what you got here at the blog. I have some pictures to share of our new place we'll be living in until we can purchase our own home. It's complete with a decorator's worst enemy...
Builder Beige.
Okay, it's really not that bad. And I'm going to live with it (except for in our master... the first thing I'm doing is painting that sucker BLACK!).
But we are so so lucky to have found a place (that is such a great price), with TONS OF WINDOWS and amazing lighting. Lighting is the most important thing in the world. Have you ever noticed? Good lighting makes you happy.
Okay enough chatting, on with the pictures:
See that little built in desk? That will be the hub of bryn alexandra interiors. Hey, we all have to start somewhere! Humble beginnings.
For this small, builder beige space, I'm going to keep it simple and go with neutrals. Here is an inspiration picture of what I am thinking...
Overall I'm very happy about our new place (and have I mentioned the rent is CHEAP!?) and I cannot wait to move in! And as I've said to Matt, I'm going to decorate the hell out of it.

Hi Bryn! I have been reading your blog daily for who knows how long and have just never commented. Congrats on the move! You're going to love Charlotte! I'll have to look you up when I make the three hour trek from Raleigh to go to Ikea. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this post! It came at the right time and was such an encouragement! I'm signing a lease on a new apartment this week. Finally moving away from the roomate and going out on my own - which is exciting because I can do what I want with the place. At the same time, I've been sorta down about not being able to buy a house yet and having to deal with builder beige and the restrictions of living in a rental. Your post has renewed my excitement! I have a bad habit of not wanting to put money into decorating somewhere I'm not going to say, but as you say...work with what you go. :) Thanks for brigtening my day!
At least the carpet is decent. Almost looks a bit like a flat Sisal. You could probably get away with painting those fireplace tiles too. Have fun!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you're going to do with it!! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in blogger interior design land who doesn't own! I've been wondering how to jazz up my own "builder beige" for a while now, or until I get the guts to paint. Maybe your place can be design inspiration for me!!
ReplyDeletelooks like you have a lot of great bones to work with in that place. I'm sure you'll make it look amazing!
ReplyDeleteWith those windows, you'll have nothing to worry about.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
I'm so excited for you guys!!!! I cannot wait to see what you do with your new place & so glad you're living your dream!!! :)

Looks like a great starter! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to see what you do with the space!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! The place looks great - so much potential. Just a word of warning though: my hubby and I painted our apartment, which the complex was fine with, but we had to paint it back. The problem was that the builder paint they required was only sold to contractors and it was 5 gallons ($125) of paint when we didn't need that much. Be sure to check with the leasing office!
ReplyDeleteits a cute cozy place..make it your home..congrats
ReplyDeleteSo exciting!!! Not sure how big your current apt is but his one looks quite spacious and like you said -great lighting! I'm sure you'll work your magic and make the entire place look absolutely amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Bryn-
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog for a few months now-the apartment looks like a nice clean canvas for you too decorate...be sure to post pics!
